A call of a TV-channel with the claim for an interview is causing panic: What do they want? Who will take care of that? Should we refuse or take the interview as a chance to place a message?
„They‘ll write anyway what they want.“ That is one prejudice.
„They do not listen, want to hear what they already know and at the end of a long interview the journalists hasn’t written the main facts.“
Is that true? Are journalists really that „mean“?
Or have you just been not prepared for that interview?
You can prepare yourself. Indeed in the univers of media there are specific rules. And you have a clear advantage if you know them. As journalist is not alike journalist.
A radio reporter needs spoken language for his piece. A printjournalist can work with written information quite well. A TV-journalist has no chance to realize a film without running pictures and a spoken statement of an expert or representative of the theme or subject of interest. He needs well verbalized statements of the representative which are ideally authentic and well synchronized in posture, voice and message. This needs some practice. But then you learn not only to give information and reply to questions but to advantage the interview for your needs.
I have worked as a print journalist as well as for radio and TV. Therefore I prepare politicians, states secretaries, press officers, spokesman of enterprises, leaders, managers, government officials, employees as all interested for a well, effective and long lasting cooperation with different types of journalists.

Presence-training – Safe in front of public, camera and microphone
It is a difference if you hold a speech – live in front of an audience – or sitting in a radio-studio, answering questions. In both cases you need a clear voice, stable and with a clear focus and position – as your voice will tell everything about you and identify your mood and attitude. And very important: In front of an audience it is not as critical what you say but HOW you say it. Here we work on how to combine your verbal strength with your personality.
TV – Statements in front of camera and microphone
Camera is running. Now every word counts. Every twitch of the eyebrows, nervous hand moving or picking on the jacket is steering the attention of the observer. How can you stay with yourself, control stage-fright and do not forget what you planned to say? What do you need that the spectators „buy“ what you „sell“ and ideally control the interview without getting too dominant?

Presenter are all-rounder. Sometimes they have to point deep through, ask critical questions and play positions off against the other. Then, they have to calm the waves and always keep the booklet in their hands without attracting any attention to that.
Event-presenters are rather neutral, objective but never cool or insensitive. They focuse on the theme and at the same time engage with the guests and speakers. Sometimes they have to stop very talk-dominants and activate and open up quiet and shy people. In any case presenters look after a pleasant atmosphere, rule the talk and do never forget the audience which needs orientation, entertainment and the feeling of participation. This all – without shooting the time-frame.
For presenters at radio- or TV programs a well sounding and pronouncing voice is essential and counting to make a difference with articulation and charisma. Here are counting impression, diction, speaking-speed and pronunciation to have and keep listeners.
